Fun Baths

Imbolc is a time of water and purification.  Baths are great fun for kids and emphasize these two facets of the season.

There are a few different things you can do to make baths fun for kids at this time of year.

Colour the water.

I have a friend who justs adds some food colouring to her kids bath water.  Really simple and really fun!   You can also colour the water with bath fizzies.  I bought some on ebay for around $14.  (Sounds alot but you get 150 in a packet so they go a long way!)  These are great because the kids can add them to the bath themselves.  I wasn’t going to give my toddlers the food colouring bottles.  😉   The bath fizzies help teach them colour theory as well, blue + yellow = green etc.

Add glow sticks to the bath.

This is a really simple thing to do too… you can get glow sticks from your local dollar store.  I picked up a pack of 15 for $2.

Here’s my boys enjoying the glow.. if you have a reluctant bather, you’ll find that this may entice them in like nothing else!

Make the water glow

You will need a black light torch and some cheap non-toxic yellow highlighters for this activity.  I plan on recycling this activity a few times a year (I’m also on the look out for other activities that use a black light torch) so I’m going to invest in one.

I found a cheap blacklight torch on aliexpress for under $10 including postage.  Aliexpress allows folks to deal direct with the Chinese manufacturers without the middlemen. (Yay!)  Basically you leach the colour out of a highlighter overnight and use the colour in the bathwater.
